Method notes

  • Shortage counts group FDA package-level entries by generic name. A drug is "current" if any of its entries is current.
  • Recall records are shown by drug name, dosage form and reason category only. Reason categories are assigned by keyword from FDA's published reason text and are approximate.
  • NADAC histories use rows classified as generic, prescription products only, averaged per week and summarized as a monthly median. The basket index is the geometric mean of each drug's price relative to January 2014, for drugs priced in that month.
  • ANDA counts use each application's original approval date in Drugs@FDA.
