About GxRadar

An independent, free reference on the US generic drug market.

GxRadar collects public information about generic medicines in the United States and puts it in one place: FDA drug shortages, recalls and approvals, CMS acquisition-cost benchmarks, a pharmacy finder built on the federal NPI registry, and plain-English explainers on how the market works.

Independence

GxRadar is an independent personal project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any pharmaceutical manufacturer, distributor, pharmacy, pharmacy benefit manager, insurer, trade group or government agency. It does not represent the views of any employer. It carries no advertising and receives no payment for any listing.

GxRadar uses only publicly available government data and published sources. It does not use, and has never received, non-public information from any manufacturer, distributor, pharmacy or other company. Price figures are historical public benchmarks. Nothing on GxRadar describes, predicts or comments on any company's current or future prices, supply plans or business strategy, and nothing here should be read that way.

How the data works

  • Recalls, shortages and approvals come from openFDA, the FDA's public data service. The live feeds refresh from openFDA several times a day; historical charts are rebuilt from FDA's bulk files.
  • Price history comes from the CMS National Average Drug Acquisition Cost (NADAC) files on data.medicaid.gov. The current-week lookup queries CMS directly.
  • The pharmacy finder queries the CMS NPPES NPI Registry, and places addresses on a map with the US Census Bureau Geocoder.
  • GxRadar shows recall and shortage records by drug name, dosage form and category only and does not display company or brand names. The full record is available from FDA using the recall number shown.

What GxRadar does not do

  • It does not give medical, pharmacy, legal or financial advice.
  • It does not sell medicines, take prescriptions or offer prices.
  • It does not rank or compare companies or pharmacies.

Articles

Articles are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools and reviewed against the sources listed at the end of each one. Errors are still possible, so check the original source before relying on a figure.
